**Bihar Elections: Jan Suraaj Party Pledges to Lift Liquor Ban, Seek Massive International Loans**
**Patna, India – October 12, 2025** – The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by political strategist Prashant Kishor, reaffirmed its commitment to overturning the liquor ban in Bihar if it wins the upcoming assembly elections. The party announced their plans today, stating that the projected ₹28,000 crore revenue surplus resulting from the sale of alcohol would be leveraged to secure loans ranging from ₹5 lakh crore to ₹6 lakh crore from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“We have been consistent in our position: if Jan Suraaj comes to power, the liquor prohibition in Bihar will be immediately lifted,” stated JSP National President Udai Singh during a press conference where he welcomed Kumar Saurav, formerly of the LJV (RV), to the party.
Saurav’s expertise in finance, gained through his prior role as country head of securitization at a private bank, is expected to be instrumental in securing the ambitious international loans. “We will use his expertise in raising loans…from the state’s revenue saved after lifting liquor prohibition,” Singh explained.
Kishor himself has previously pledged to abolish the liquor ban within an hour of his party assuming power. The prohibition was initially implemented by the Nitish Kumar government in April 2016.
Saurav, after joining the Jan Suraaj Party stated to reporters, “I joined Jan Suraaj to work with Prashant Kishor ji, who has been tirelessly working for the betterment of Bihar and the people of the State.”
