**Penguins Host Rangers Tonight, Look to Continue Hot Start**
**PITTSBURGH, PA** – The Pittsburgh Penguins (2-0-0) will conclude their two-game homestand tonight at PPG Paints Arena as they face off against the rival New York Rangers (1-1-0). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Doors open at 5:30. All fans in attendance will receive a Team Calendar presented by Highmark.
Pittsburgh aims to build on their early-season momentum and secure back-to-back wins against the Rangers for the first time since December 2022. However, they face a challenge, looking to break a four-game home losing streak against New York. The game can be viewed on SportsNet Pittsburgh and listened to on 105.9 the X and the Penguins app.
Evgeni Malkin is off to a blistering start, leading the team with five assists and matching a feat not seen since Mario Lemieux in 2000-01. Sidney Crosby, fresh off surpassing legends Joe Sakic and Jarome Iginla in career goals, sits just one assist away from passing Steve Yzerman for ninth all-time. Rookie defenseman Harrison Brunicke, born in South Africa, made history by scoring his first NHL goal, becoming the first South African-born player to do so. Goaltender Arturs Silovs made a memorable debut, recording a shutout against the Rangers.
Bryan Rust may return from injury. In addition, Kris Letang needs only 3 assists to become only the 20th defenseman in NHL history to record 600 assists and forward Justin Brazeau may score in his third straight game, a feat that has been accomplished only 12 times in NHL history. Philip Tomasino has 5 points in 8 games against the Rangers. Pittsburgh’s penalty kill is a perfect 5-for-5 and the Penguins rank second in the league in goals scored and second in fewest goals allowed.
Following tonight’s game, the Penguins will embark on their annual California road trip.
