**Edgar Wright Promises Faithful ‘Running Man’ Adaptation with Glen Powell and Lee Pace**

NEW YORK – Director Edgar Wright is bringing Stephen King’s dystopian novel “The Running Man” to the big screen, promising a more faithful adaptation than the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film. Wright, along with stars Glen Powell and Lee Pace, unveiled details about the Paramount Pictures film at New York Comic Con.

Wright emphasized that his vision is to capture the essence of King’s book, which he read before seeing the original movie. “This is not an attempt to remake that film. This is something that’s more faithful to the book,” Wright stated. King himself has given the script his blessing.

Glen Powell, who plays protagonist Ben Richards, revealed that King approved his casting after watching his film “Hitman”. Powell describes Ben Richards as “the ultimate underdog” fighting against an oppressive system. Lee Pace will play the role of Evan McCone, a deadly “executioner” in the reality show.

Wright noted that the film draws inspiration from the proliferation of reality TV, shaping the look and feel of the movie. “Since the 1982 book, we’ve now had nearly 30 years of reality shows that are much closer to what was in the book,” he explained.

Filming took place across Bulgaria, Scotland, and other locations to capture the sense of Ben Richards being on the run. “The Running Man” is slated for release on November 14, 2025.
