**Amaravati CRDA Project Office Achieves ‘Net Zero Energy’ Certification**
VIJAYAWADA, India – October 12, 2025 – The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Project Office in Amaravati has been awarded the prestigious ‘Net Zero Energy (Design)’ Certification by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), under the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This makes the CRDA office the first building in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh’s greenfield capital city, to achieve this recognition.
According to an official release, the building is designed to meet 100% of its annual energy needs through renewable sources. This will be achieved by installing a 540 kWp rooftop solar system and purchasing green power to compensate for any remaining energy demand.
CRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, upon receiving the certificate, stated the award highlights the Authority’s dedication to environmental responsibility and sets a precedent for future development across Amaravati and the wider state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Amaravati Master Plan previously secured IGBC Platinum Certification in 2018, further demonstrating Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable urban planning and development. The press release also credited Additional Commissioner A. Bhargav Teja, Engineer-in-Chief R. Gopala Krishna Reddy, Chief Engineer P.V.K. Bhaskar, and Chief Architect Sandeep Dixit for their roles in integrating sustainability throughout major CRDA projects.
