**Muscat, Oman –** Cricket fever is set to grip Oman from September 30th to November 2nd, 2025, as nine teams from Asia and the East Asia-Pacific regions compete for the final three coveted spots in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This unique qualifier is the only tournament in the World Cup qualifying process to combine two regions, promising high-stakes matches and intense competition.
Nepal, Oman, and Papua New Guinea earned their place in the regional final by virtue of their participation in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They’ll be joined by six other teams who fought their way through Sub-Regional qualifiers: Malaysia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Samoa, and Japan. The teams will compete across two groups: Group A consisting of Malaysia, Qatar, and UAE; and Group C consisting of Oman, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa.
Nepal enters the tournament with significant momentum, having recently defeated the West Indies in a T20I series. Samoa, led by former New Zealand international Ross Taylor, caused a major upset in their Sub-Regional Qualifier, while Japan dominated their qualifier to secure their place. Malaysia and Kuwait prevailed in Asia Sub-Regionals, alongside UAE and Qatar.
The teams will battle it out in a Super 6 stage where the top three teams will clinch their tickets to the T20 World Cup 2026. All matches will be broadcast live and free on ICC.tv (FanCode in parts of Asia). Cricket fans can expect a thrilling spectacle as these nations vie for their place on the global stage.
