Wed Oct 08 11:54:37 UTC 2025: **Headline: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Warns of “Real” War Risk with India, Claims Victory**
**Islamabad – October 8, 2025:** Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stoked tensions with India, asserting that the chances of war between the two nations are “real.” In an interview broadcast on Samaa TV on Tuesday, Asif responded to recent statements from Indian political and military leaders, claiming Pakistan is on high alert and closely monitoring the situation.
“Chances of war with India are real,” Asif stated, adding that Pakistan would likely achieve a more favorable outcome than in previous conflicts. “I do not want escalation, but the risks are real, and I am not denying that. If it comes to war, God willing, we will achieve a better result than before.”
Asif further claimed that Pakistan now enjoys greater international support compared to six months ago, alleging India has lost backing from previous allies following the May conflict. He refrained from naming specific countries. The minister also reiterated the longstanding view that India was never a united nation, and that Pakistan was founded and remained united due to faith, especially during the May confrontation. “At home, we argue and compete. In a fight with India, we come together,” he said.
His comments follow recent warnings from Indian Army Chief Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, who urged Pakistan to cease supporting terrorism if it wished to remain on the world map. Additionally, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh reported that numerous Pakistani military aircraft were destroyed in Indian strikes during Operation Sindoor. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also asserted India’s willingness to cross borders to protect its citizens and integrity.
Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories. The ensuing clashes resulted in a cessation of hostilities by May 10, with India claiming Pakistan had pleaded for an end to the military actions.
The Hindu’s reporting from Islamabad offers a view from India, highlighting the ongoing tensions and rhetoric between the two nations.
