Sat Oct 04 18:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Maresca Sees “Vulnerability” in Liverpool After Recent Stumbles

**London, England** – Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has tempered his previously pessimistic outlook on challenging Liverpool for the Premier League title, citing recent defeats as evidence of vulnerability in the league leaders’ armor.

Just a week ago, Maresca suggested that catching Liverpool, riding a wave of early-season form, would be “impossible” for Chelsea and other contenders. He pointed to Liverpool’s impressive summer signings, including reported record signing Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, as further bolstering their already formidable squad.

However, Liverpool’s recent losses to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray have shifted Maresca’s perspective.

“When we did the interview, after five games, they had 15 points,” Maresca said in Friday’s press conference. “My words were, if they continue in the same way, it’s impossible to catch them. Now they lost one game, two games, that shows that there is vulnerability.”

Despite these stumbles, Liverpool still sit atop the Premier League table, holding a seven-point advantage over eighth-placed Chelsea. Chelsea will host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

While Chelsea enjoyed a Champions League victory over Benfica earlier this week, they have failed to secure any points in their last two league matches, compounded by disciplinary issues that saw two players sent off.

Maresca remains under no illusions about the difficulty of the upcoming match against Liverpool. “Even if in the last one or two games they dropped points, they showed the reason why they won the Premier League last year,” he acknowledged.

“And they’re going to be there until the end. I consider them the best team in this moment in England. The reason why is because they showed that and because they won the Premier League.”

The highly anticipated clash between Chelsea and Liverpool promises to be a crucial fixture as both teams vie for Premier League supremacy.
