**FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –** (October 1, 2025) – Interim Head Coach Bobby Petrino addressed the Arkansas Razorbacks football team during an SEC teleconference Wednesday, following the firing of Head Coach Sam Pittman. Petrino is trying to instill a focus on the remaining nine weeks of the season, emphasizing their importance for player development and future opportunities.

“There’s actually no benefit to go into the transfer portal right now,” Petrino explained, highlighting the lack of immediate playing time and limited exposure for transferring players. “I think once I laid it out that way for the players, they understood it.”

Petrino emphasized that his focus is to build off of the positives he has seen and finish the season strong. Petrino is busy holding individual meetings with players. He is also working to complete his coaching staff and make a defensive hire, which he stated he is close to finalizing.

The coaching staff is currently working to simplify the defensive scheme. “We’re really working hard at making sure that [assignment errors and confusion] goes away and we can get lined up, get in a great stance, get our eyes where they belong and play together as a unit,” Petrino said.

The Razorbacks are set to face Tennessee on Saturday, Oct. 11, on the SEC Network.
