**HYDERABAD, October 2, 2025** – Telangana has emerged as a hotspot for cybercrime in India, reporting the second highest number of cases in 2023 with 18,236 incidents. This represents a 19.23% increase from 2022 and a staggering 77% rise from 2021. Only Karnataka, with 21,889 cases, reported more.

According to data released today, Telangana accounted for 21.1% of all cybercrime reported across India. Fraud remains the dominant type of cybercrime in the state, accounting for 10,626 cases, including OTP fraud, online banking fraud, and credit/debit card scams.

Hyderabad is among the worst-hit metropolitan areas, reporting 4,855 cyber crime cases. Like the state overall, fraud is the primary type of crime.
