**Namakkal, October 2, 2025** – A 47-year-old man, identified as Bhupathi, allegedly murdered his wife and then took his own life in Namakkal on Wednesday. Bhupathi, a lorry body builder from Santhaipettai Pudur, is said to have frequently argued with his 37-year-old wife, Kalaiselvi, while under the influence of alcohol.
According to police reports, on Wednesday morning, Bhupathi locked his 20-year-old daughter, Maheswari, in a room after she attempted to intervene in an argument between her parents. He then allegedly killed Kalaiselvi with a knife before taking his own life.
Hearing Maheswari’s screams, neighbors rushed to the house, where they discovered the bodies and rescued the daughter. Authorities have sent the bodies to the Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
