Sat Sep 27 02:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Unrivaled Adds WNBA Rising Stars Burton and Citron to 2026 Roster

**[City, State] –** Unrivaled, the innovative basketball league focused on player development, announced the addition of WNBA Most Improved Player Veronica Burton and Rookie of the Year runner-up Sonia Citron to its roster for the 2026 season. The league, which launched in January, has quickly gained a reputation as a valuable platform for WNBA players to hone their skills during the off-season.

Burton, coming off a breakout year with the Golden State Valkyries, is eager to leverage Unrivaled’s unique environment to further elevate her game. “It’s a major opportunity,” Burton told ESPN. “A lot of the league’s best players are competing [at Unrivaled], so any opportunity to compete against the best is where I want to be. I’m just excited to be a part of it and I’m grateful to be a part of it.” Burton experienced a dramatic surge in performance this past WNBA season, becoming the first player in league history to increase her averages by at least five points, two rebounds, and two assists per game from one season to the next (minimum 30 games played in each season).

Citron, who had a stellar rookie season, averaging 14.9 points with impressive shooting splits, is also set to join Unrivaled. Her exceptional performance earned her a spot as a first-time WNBA All-Star in July.

Unrivaled’s condensed court and fast-paced style of play have drawn significant interest. “The super fast pace challenges people to be aggressive on both sides of the ball, and you can’t really hide out there,” Burton explained. “You have to be involved and engaged.”

Burton and Citron join a growing list of new additions to the league, including Paige Bueckers, Saniya Rivers, and Erica Wheeler. Returning players already announced include Breanna Stewart (one of the league’s co-founders), Azura Stevens, Lexie Hull, and Jackie Young. With a roster packed with talent, Unrivaled’s 2026 season is shaping up to be its most competitive yet.
