**Fremont, CA** – Varun Suresh, a 29-year-old man of Indian origin, has been charged with murder, residential burglary, and use of a deadly weapon in connection with the stabbing death of 71-year-old David Brimmer in Fremont. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office announced the charges on Monday, following an investigation into the targeted attack.
Police responded to reports of a stabbing on [Date – implied] and found Brimmer suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite emergency aid, Brimmer, a registered sex offender with a prior conviction for child sexual assault, died at the scene. Suresh was apprehended at the scene and a knife was recovered.
According to court documents, Suresh confessed to investigators that he intentionally targeted Brimmer after identifying him using California’s Megan’s Law database. He allegedly stated that he had a long-held desire to kill a sex offender, believing they “hurt children” and “deserve to die.”
Investigators revealed that Suresh posed as a CPA, carrying a bag, notebook, and coffee to appear legitimate, and approached Brimmer at his home. He allegedly confirmed Brimmer’s identity before attacking him, pursuing him into a neighbor’s residence and fatally stabbing him. Police found screenshots of profiles from California’s Megan’s Law website on Suresh’s phone, including Brimmer’s.

Authorities have classified the incident as isolated and have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat. Suresh remains in custody as prosecutors review the case.
This is not Suresh’s first run-in with the law. During that incident, he reportedly expressed a desire to kill the CEO of Hyatt Hotels, claiming he was a pedophile.
