Wed Sep 24 07:51:42 UTC 2025: **Bangkok Road Collapses, Creating Massive Sinkhole and Disrupting City**

Bangkok, Thailand – A significant portion of a road in Bangkok crumbled on Wednesday, creating a large sinkhole that crippled traffic, damaged infrastructure, and forced evacuations. While there were no reported injuries, three vehicles sustained damage as the road surface slowly caved in, according to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt.

Officials suspect ongoing construction of an underground train station is the culprit behind the collapse. Dramatic videos captured the moment the road started to sink, dragging down utility poles and rupturing water pipes. The chasm ultimately severed a four-lane road, stopping just short of a local police station, exposing its foundation.

The incident prompted a nearby hospital to temporarily suspend outpatient services for two days. While the hospital building itself is not structurally at risk, authorities evacuated the police station and adjacent buildings as a precaution. Electricity and water services in the affected area have also been cut off.

Governor Sittipunt assured the public that authorities are working to repair the sinkhole as quickly as possible, acknowledging concerns that heavy monsoon rains, currently impacting the city, could exacerbate the damage. The incident highlights the challenges of infrastructure projects in a densely populated urban environment.
