**Neurodivergent Music Band, Chayanit – The Chosen Ones, Takes Center Stage at Sammohan 2025**

**Thiruvananthapuram, India – September 24, 2025** – Chayanit – The Chosen Ones, a Delhi NCR-based music band comprised of neurodivergent musicians, is set to perform at Sammohan 2025, a national-level showcase for People with Disabilities, on September 27th at the Different Art Centre in Thiruvananthapuram.

Formed in May 2025 with the support of the Hyundai India Art for Hope Grant, Chayanit features Devanga Bidrum Kalita, a pianist with a learning disability; Chayan Taneja, a drummer on the autism spectrum; Kevin Aryan Mitchell, a guitarist also on the autism spectrum; and vocalists Eshaan Pratap Singh, also on the autism spectrum, and Shreyam Shreevardhan, who lives with ADHD and a learning disability.

The band’s formation is a testament to the power of recognizing and nurturing abilities. Devanga overcame challenges finding a piano teacher by traveling long distances for lessons, eventually earning a music degree from Middlesex University in the UK. Chayan, mentored by his childhood teacher Sandeep Paul, has honed his drumming skills to Grade 6 from Trinity College London. Kevin taught himself guitar at age 14. Eshaan discovered his passion for singing during the lockdown, while Shreyam credits his love of music to the classic Hindi singers he listened to as a child.

“We are focused on abilities rather than disabilities,” says Archana Taneja, Chayan’s mother and the band’s coordinator. “Children have skills waiting to be discovered. Your child speaks; you just need to listen.”

The band is not only showcasing their musical talent but also challenging perceptions about neurodivergence. “People should know we are special but not less,” says Chayan. “I want to inspire those who are stopped from doing things because they are disabled,” says Eshaan. The band also is recording an original song and is scheduled to perform at the International Purple Fest in Goa in October.

Chayanit – The Chosen Ones will perform at Sammohan 2025 on September 27th, from 3pm onwards at the Different Art Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. Entry is free.
