**Man Lynched in Rajasthan on Suspicion of Cow Smuggling; Police Investigate**

**Bhilwara, Rajasthan -** A 35-year-old man, Aasif Babu Multani, from Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, died after allegedly being lynched by a group of cow vigilantes in Bhilwara district, Rajasthan. The incident occurred on the night of September 15th, with the police receiving a report on September 17th.

According to Aasif’s brother, Manju Pemla, Aasif and his cousin Mohsin were transporting cattle purchased from a Bhilwara cattle mart when they were attacked. Pemla alleges the assailants stole ₹36,000 and demanded an additional ₹50,000 for Aasif’s release.

Aasif was admitted to a hospital in Bhilwara and subsequently referred to Jaipur for neurosurgery due to head injuries. He died in Jaipur on September 20th. His brother claims he had injuries all over his body and that the attackers targeted him for being Muslim and transporting cattle, even though the van contained oxen and buffaloes.

Mohsin reported that their vehicle was forced off the road and surrounded by a group of men shouting “gau taskar” (cow smuggler) before assaulting them. He managed to escape into the woods.

Police have arrested five men and launched a special investigation team (SIT) to examine the incident, considering possible motives beyond cow smuggling, including personal disputes and extortion. A post-mortem has been conducted, but the cause of death is pending forensic analysis.

Aasif is survived by his wife, a young daughter, and an infant son. The family alleges that the police have not yet apprehended all the suspects named in the FIR.
