**Hyundai Recalls Nearly 600,000 Vehicles Due to Seat Belt and Charging Port Issues**

**WASHINGTON, D.C. –** Hyundai Motor America has announced two major recalls affecting nearly 600,000 vehicles nationwide. The first recall involves 568,850 model year 2020-2025 Palisade SUVs due to potentially faulty seat belt buckles. The second recall impacts 31,042 model year 2023-2025 IONIQ 6 electric vehicles, citing a risk of detachment in the charging port door.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report, the seat belt buckles in the Palisade vehicles may fail to latch properly in the driver, passenger, and second-row window seats. Hyundai reports 546 incidents of defective seat belts, none of which led to crashes, injuries, or fatalities. Hyundai’s recommendation for Palisade owners is to firmly and swiftly insert the seatbelt into the buckle, ensuring it is fully secured by pulling on the belt.

The IONIQ 6 recall stems from reports of charging port doors detaching from the vehicle. Hyundai acknowledges six such incidents, also without any reported accidents, injuries, or deaths.

Hyundai estimates that approximately 1% of vehicles in both recalls exhibit the noted defects.

**Remedy:**

Hyundai will notify affected vehicle owners and instruct them to bring their vehicles to a dealership for free inspection and, if necessary, repair. For the Palisade recall, dealers will inspect and replace the seatbelt buckles as needed. IONIQ 6 owners will have their charging port doors inspected and replaced if necessary.

* **IONIQ 6 Affected Vehicles:** 2023-2025 models manufactured between December 14, 2022 and December 26, 2024.
