Mon Sep 22 12:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Salter’s Return Sparks Colorado Victory Over Wyoming, But Sanders Demands More
**BOULDER, Colo. -** Kaidon Salter reclaimed his starting quarterback role in dramatic fashion Saturday night, throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for another to lead the Colorado Buffaloes to a 37-20 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys. Salter, who was benched last week in favor of Ryan Staub, completed 18 of 28 passes for 304 yards and added 86 yards on the ground.
The Buffaloes (2-2) dominated early, building a 28-3 lead in the third quarter. However, Wyoming (2-2) mounted a comeback attempt, only to be stalled by a safety courtesy of a sack by Colorado defensive end Arden Walker on Cowboys quarterback Kaden Anderson. While Wyoming managed to score again, Salter sealed the win with a 35-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
“I’m happy with the results, but I’m not happy with the finish,” said Colorado coach Deion Sanders. He expressed frustration with the team’s lack of a “killer instinct” after building a significant lead.
Salter, a Liberty transfer, connected with Omarion Miller for a 29-yard touchdown, Sincere Brown for a 68-yard strike, and Joseph Williams for a 47-yard score. “It’s been rough not playing last week,” Salter said after the game. “I just want to go out there and be the best version of me for the team.”
Despite the victory, Sanders emphasized accountability within the team, stating, “I want to win, but I want people to grow as human beings.”
Anderson finished with 176 passing yards and two touchdowns for Wyoming. Freshman tailback Samuel Harris impressed with 126 rushing yards, including a 50-yard run. “We made too many mistakes at critical times during the game,” said Wyoming coach Jay Sawvel.
The game also marked the debut of Colorado’s new live mascot, Ralphie VII, a one-year-old bison, who replaced the retired Ralphie VI.
This was the first meeting between the two geographically close schools in 16 years.
