*Paradip, Odisha – September 19, 2025* – The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) significantly enhanced its maritime capabilities today with the commissioning of the “Adamya,” the first of a new class of fast patrol vessels (FPV), at Paradip Port. The 51-meter long vessel, the first of eight Adamya-class FPVs, was designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited, showcasing India’s growing strength in indigenous defense manufacturing.

The “Adamya” boasts over 60% indigenous content, aligning with the government’s “Make in India” initiative. It is equipped with advanced features including indigenously developed Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP) and gearboxes for superior maneuverability, a 30mm CRN-91 gun, and two 12.7mm stabilized remote-controlled machine guns supported by advanced fire-control systems.

The ship also features an Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Platform Management System, and Automated Power Management System, further enhancing its operational efficiency. Powered by two 3,000 KW diesel engines, the “Adamya” can reach a maximum speed of 28 Knots and has an endurance of 1,500 nautical miles at economical speed.

“Adamya” will be based in Paradip, Odisha, and will operate under the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East). Commandant Anurag Pandey commands the ship with a crew of five officers and 34 personnel.
