Wed Sep 17 06:50:00 UTC 2025: **Vikings Place Aaron Jones on IR, Sign Cam Akers Amid Offensive Woes**

**MINNEAPOLIS, MN** – The Minnesota Vikings’ injury woes continue to mount as the team announced Tuesday that running back Aaron Jones has been placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury sustained during Sunday night’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The move will sideline Jones for at least the next four games, keeping him out of action through Week 7.

To address the suddenly thin running back room, the Vikings are also signing veteran running back Cam Akers to the practice squad, providing immediate depth behind current RB1 Jordan Mason.

Jones’ injury is a significant blow to the Vikings offense, which is already dealing with a number of key absences. Starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy is likely to miss the upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a high ankle sprain. The offensive line is also depleted, with starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw still recovering from an ACL tear and his replacement, Justin Skule, currently in concussion protocol, as is starting center Ryan Kelly. To add insult to the injury, wide receiver Jordan Addison is still serving a suspension.

Mason has been the team’s leading rusher in both of Minnesota’s games, tallying 24 carries for 98 yards on 45 snaps. Jones, meanwhile, heads to IR with 13 carries for 46 yards on 43 snaps so far this season. He had eight carries for 23 yards in Sunday’s 22-6 loss as the Vikings dropped to 1-1 and concern mounted on the offensive front.

The Vikings will look to overcome these challenges as they host the Bengals this Sunday before embarking on a series of road games, including trips to Ireland and London.
