**Three Doctors Suspended in Bribery Scandal Involving Medical College Inspection**

**Bengaluru, India – September 16, 2025** – The Medical Education Department of Karnataka has suspended three doctors for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for positive inspection reports while serving as members of a National Medical Commission (NMC) inspection team. The action follows an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The suspended doctors are:

* Dr. Chaitra M.S., Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru.
* Dr. Manjappa C.N., Professor and Head, Department of Orthopaedics, Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences.
* Dr. Ashok Shelke, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences.

Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, Mohammad Mohsin, issued the suspension order following notification from the CBI, which has already registered an FIR in the case.

The doctors are accused of accepting bribes in return for a favorable inspection report for Chhattisgarh’s Rawatpura Government Institute of Medical Science and Research. The CBI has reportedly taken the doctors into custody and conducted interrogations.

Mr. Mohsin, after a thorough review of all related information and relevant rules, has ordered the suspensions.
