**Khalistani Group Threatens Siege of Indian Consulate in Vancouver Amidst Renewed Diplomatic Ties**
**Vancouver, Canada** – As India and Canada work to restore diplomatic relations, the US-based Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has issued a threat to besiege the Indian Consulate in Vancouver on Thursday. The group is urging Indo-Canadians to postpone routine visits to the consulate.
SFJ released a poster featuring a target superimposed on the image of India’s new High Commissioner to Canada, Dinish Patnaik. The group accuses Indian consulates of operating a spy network and conducting surveillance targeting Khalistanis within Canada.
The group’s statement referenced Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s 2023 announcement that Indian agents’ involvement was under investigation in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. SFJ claims that Indian consulates continue to run a spy network and surveillance targeting Khalistan Referendum campaigners. According to SFJ, the threat level is so high that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has provided witness protection to Inderjeet Singh Gosal, the new leader of the Khalistan Referendum campaign following Nijjar’s death.
SFJ claims that the siege aims to demand accountability for alleged espionage and intimidation on Canadian soil.
Neither the Ministry of External Affairs in India nor the Indian Consulate in Vancouver has responded to requests for comment.
This threat comes shortly after a Canadian government report acknowledged the presence of extremist Khalistani groups operating within Canada. The report indicated that these groups, including Babbar Khalsa International and the International SYF (both listed as terrorist organizations under Canada’s Criminal Code), receive financial backing from individuals and networks based in Canada. The report further noted that these groups now primarily operate through smaller networks supporting the Khalistan cause independently.
