**Nine Killed, Many Injured in Truck Accident During Ganesha Procession in Hassan**
**Hassan, Karnataka – September 13, 2025** – A tragic accident occurred Friday night in Mosale Hosahalli, Hassan taluk, as a truck plowed into a crowd celebrating the Ganesha festival, resulting in the deaths of nine people and serious injuries to at least sixteen others. The incident took place during a Ganesha procession.
Witness accounts and video footage show the truck hitting a two-wheeler before veering across a divider and into the crowd of dancers. The driver, identified as Bhuvanesh, also sustained injuries in the accident. He has been booked by Goruru Police under Sections 281, 106, and 125 of the BNS for rash driving and causing death by negligence. The case was registered based on the statement of Manjunath, who lost his nephew Eshwar in the tragedy.
Among the deceased were three engineering students from the Government Engineering College at Mosale Hosahalli: Mithun (21), Suresh (21), and Praveen Kumar (22). Other victims include Rajesh (18), Eshwar (17), Gokul (17), Kumaraswamy (25), Praveen Kumar (25), and Prabhakar (51).
The injured are currently receiving treatment at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
