**Kozhikode:** A team of experts from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), conducted a site visit today to the Wayanad Ghat Road, the location of a recent mudslip that disrupted traffic flow in late August. The team, led by faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering, including Santhosh G. Thambi, Pradeep Negi, and Anil Kumar, and research scholar Manu George, utilized drone technology to create a detailed 3D model of the affected area.
The high-resolution images captured through a real-time kinematic survey will be instrumental in predicting potential future mudslides, assessing land stability, and evaluating the overall impact on the region. “These 3D images will give us a comprehensive understanding of the terrain and help us identify vulnerable areas,” explained Prof. Thambi.
