**Princess Kate and First Lady Melania Trump to Highlight Scouting at Windsor Castle**

**Windsor, UK –** Catherine, Princess of Wales, will host US First Lady Melania Trump next week at Windsor Castle’s Frogmore Gardens for a special event focused on scouting, Buckingham Palace announced today. The September 18 appearance will underscore the United Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to cultivate close ties with the Trump administration.

Following a state visit to Windsor Castle by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, where they will be hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Princess Kate and Mrs. Trump will meet with Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and young members of the Scouts’ Squirrels program. They will learn about nature as the children work towards their “Go Wild” badge. Princess Kate has served as joint president of the Scout Association since 2020.

The event marks a rare public appearance for both women, who are known for their commitment to children’s well-being, as well as their intensely private nature.

The meeting will be closely watched as a significant moment in the Princess of Wales’s growing diplomatic role, particularly in light of the sometimes unpredictable nature of US diplomacy. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been proactive in leveraging the influence of the royal family to build relationships with the Trump administration, including delivering a letter from King Charles to President Trump.

This is not the first time Princess Kate has engaged in diplomatic efforts with US First Ladies. In 2021, she joined Jill Biden at a school in Cornwall during the G7 summit to promote early childhood education. She also famously met with the Obamas at Kensington Palace in 2016.

In addition to the scouting event, Melania Trump is scheduled to tour Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle with Queen Camilla.
