**Spotify Unleashes HD Sound: Lossless Audio Arrives for Premium Subscribers**

**Stockholm, Sweden** – In a move that promises to redefine the streaming experience, Spotify today announced the rollout of highly anticipated lossless, HD-quality audio to its Premium subscribers in over 50 markets globally. After years of anticipation, users can finally immerse themselves in music as the artists intended, with pristine, uncompressed sound.

The feature, which has been a top request from users, will be available to Premium subscribers in the U.S., Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, and the U.K. this week, with a phased launch continuing through October. A notification within the Spotify app will alert users when the feature is available in their region.

“The wait is finally over,” said Gustav Gyllenhammar, Spotify’s VP of subscriptions. “We’ve taken time to build this feature in a way that prioritizes quality, ease of use, and clarity at every step, so you always know what’s happening under the hood. With Lossless, our premium users will now have an even better listening experience.”

The lossless audio feature allows streaming of tracks encoded at up to 24-bit depth and a 44.1 kHz sample rate, utilizing the FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) format. Spotify claims this quality is available on nearly every track. This marks a significant upgrade from Spotify’s previous highest quality, the lossy AAC codec at 320 kbps. The new service is available on mobile, desktop, and tablet apps. It is also compatible with many third-party devices via Spotify Connect, including those from Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, Denon, Marantz, Bluesound, and Yamaha, with Sonos and Amazon support launching next month.

Users can customize lossless settings for Wi-Fi, cellular data, and offline downloads, with options to choose between “Low,” “Normal,” “High,” “Very High,” and “Lossless” audio quality, each displaying their respective data consumption. Lossless audio must be manually activated on each device.

With other music services already offering higher quality audio, Spotify plays catch-up, solidifying its commitment to providing premium listening experiences and reinforcing its position as a leading force in the music streaming landscape.
