**MYSURU, September 8, 2025** – Prohibitory orders remain in effect in Maddur town, Mandya district, following a stone-pelting incident that occurred Sunday night during a Ganesha idol immersion procession. The incident, which took place as the procession passed through Ram Rahim Nagar and near a local mosque, resulted in injuries to at least eight individuals, all of whom have been discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.

Superintendent of Mandya district police, Mallikarjun Baladandi, confirmed that 21 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Police are actively searching for an additional five to six suspects identified as being involved.

“We are committed to ensuring peace and order in Maddur,” stated Baladandi to reporters on Monday. “Additional police personnel, including six platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), have been deployed to maintain control and prevent further escalation.”

According to police reports, the trouble began when stones were allegedly thrown at participants in the Ganesha procession as it passed the mosque. Retaliation ensued, leading to a tense atmosphere. While police prevented a larger confrontation at the time, tensions remained high, leading to gatherings demanding justice after the idol’s immersion.

Prohibitory orders will remain in place until the morning of September 9th. Authorities will then reassess the situation to determine if an extension is necessary.
