**Kolar Women Spice Up Success with Mango Pickle Business**
**Bengaluru, September 8, 2025** – In Kolar, Karnataka, known as the mango capital of the state, a group of women are proving that seasonal fruit can lead to year-round prosperity. Driven by the abundance of mangoes, Rathnamma A.V. started Sri Vaibhava Siridhanyagala Swasahaya Sangha, a mango pickle-making unit, in 2017. What began as a small operation producing just 50 kg of pickles per month has blossomed into a thriving enterprise employing 50 women and producing over 2,000 kg.
Rathnamma, along with other women from Self-Help Groups, the Department of Horticulture, and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) were responsible for the success of Vaibhava. The women of Vaibhava make at least ₹15,000 per month. Vaibhava also collaborates with persons with disabilities and Krishi Vigyan Kendra students.
With support from organizations like United Way Bengaluru, Vaibhava has expanded its reach and now impacts the lives of over 100,000 people. The success of Vaibhava has inspired other women to launch their entrepreneurial ventures, solidifying Kolar’s reputation as a hub of female-led innovation and economic empowerment.
“From 50 kg to 2,000 kg, the scale up wasn’t a big challenge for us,” said Rathnamma, “Today, each SHG member makes a decent monthly earning for her family. Earlier, it was a zero-income situation for many of these women.”
