**[CITY, STATE] – [DATE]** – Team Cherry’s highly anticipated sequel, “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” has begun with a bang, thrusting players into a mysterious new realm called Pharloom. The game opens with Hornet, the familiar protector of Hallownest, captured and transported to this unknown land by mysterious bugs, stripped of her abilities.
After a daring escape triggered by a mysterious Lumafly, Hornet finds herself in the Moss Grotto, a lush but dangerous area. Players must guide her through this initial zone, mastering her abilities and unraveling the mystery of her abduction.
Early gameplay focuses on reacquainting players with Hornet’s moveset: attacking, jumping, and “Binding” (recovering health using stored “Soul”). Exploring every nook and cranny of Moss Grotto reveals hidden pathways, resource-rich shell shard deposits, and challenging enemies – from simple, crawling caterpillars to winged creatures and rolling bugs.
The journey culminates in a challenging encounter with the **Moss Mother**, the area’s first boss. This tutorial boss teaches the player basic attacks with simple swoops and dives as well as aerial combat skills needed to be mastered. Defeating the Moss Mother unlocks passage deeper into Pharloom, and players pass out to be awoken by a new NPC the Chapel Maid.
Upon waking, Hornet, driven to uncover the reasons behind her transport, ventures into **Bone Bottom**, the game’s first village. Here, players can save their progress, interact with unique characters like the Little Pilgrim, Fearful Pilgrim, and meet a local vendor named Pebb, who sells the player unique items. The player also meets Flick the Fixer who will have a wishwall where players can find side quests.
Bone Bottom connects to **The Marrow**, a zone that presents new challenges and eventually leads to another key boss encounter.
