Sat Sep 06 00:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice Suspended for Six Games
**Kansas City, MO -** Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been suspended for the first six games of the 2025 NFL season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, the NFL announced on Wednesday. The suspension stems from Rice’s involvement in a multi-car crash in Dallas last year.
Rice, 25, will be eligible to return to the field on October 13, following the Chiefs’ Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions. He will miss Kansas City’s season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil on September 5, as well as games against the Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals.
Last month, Rice was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time after pleading guilty to third-degree felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. According to Dallas police, Rice was driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at speeds exceeding 119 mph before losing control and triggering a chain reaction collision involving six other vehicles.
Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot confirmed that Rice has paid restitution to all victims for their out-of-pocket medical expenses. The timing of Rice’s jail sentence remains unclear.
“I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property,” Rice said in a statement released last month through his attorney, Royce West. “I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”
At a recent Chiefs training camp, Rice told the Associated Press that he has “completely changed” since the incident. “All I can focus on is what I can control right now and that’s me doing what I do,” he stated.
Rice is entering his third season with the Chiefs. He had a strong rookie year, recording 79 catches for 938 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns, contributing to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII victory. He only played in four games last season before being sidelined with a knee injury.
CNN Sports has reached out to Rice’s representatives for comment.
