**Andhra Pradesh Libraries to Receive ₹3 Crore Boost for Upgrades**
VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – September 6, 2025 – Public libraries in Andhra Pradesh are set to receive a significant upgrade thanks to a ₹3 crore allocation from the Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF). The Andhra Pradesh State Library Planning Committee (SLPC) convened today to finalize plans for utilizing the funds during the 2025-26 financial year.
The RRRLF, a central autonomous organization dedicated to supporting public libraries across India, provides financial assistance through both matching and non-matching schemes. This allocation will enable the SLPC to focus on developing key regional libraries, including the Sri Gowtami Regional Library in Rajamahendravaram, as well as libraries in Guntur, Kurnool, and Visakhapatnam.
“This funding is crucial for modernizing our libraries and ensuring they remain vital resources for the community,” said G. Koteswara Rao, Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Grandhalaya Parishad, who presided over the SLPC meeting.
In addition to regional library upgrades, the SLPC has prepared proposals to modernize 50 Grade-I and Grade-II libraries throughout the state. Furthermore, the committee is seeking additional funding under the RRRLF’s Non-Matching Scheme to establish Knowledge Corners, develop children’s libraries, and host library events such as centenary celebrations, workshops, and training programs.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Director General of RRRLF Ajay Pratap Singh and Director of Andhra Pradesh Public Libraries A. Krishnamohan. The planned upgrades are expected to significantly enhance the quality and accessibility of library services across Andhra Pradesh, furthering the cause of literacy and lifelong learning.
