Thu Sep 04 10:00:00 UTC 2025: **Brewers Overcome Injury Woes, Secure Victory Over Phillies**

MILWAUKEE – Despite a growing list of injuries and the late scratch of star Christian Yelich due to back soreness, the Milwaukee Brewers powered through to a 6-3 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night at American Family Field. The win secured the season series for the Brewers.

Yelich’s absence, attributed to “low back soreness,” added to a list of concerns for the Brewers, including injuries to Jackson Chourio, Joey Ortiz, Trevor Megill, and the season-ending loss of Shelby Miller. Manager Pat Murphy indicated Yelich would also rest on Thursday, with the hope he can return for the upcoming series in Pittsburgh.

However, the team displayed resilience, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning against Phillies starter Aaron Nola. Jackson Chourio, in as a DH on a planned rest day, scored from second on a Sal Frelick single. Isaac Collins then hit a three-run home run.

Veteran starter Jose Quintana delivered a quality start, followed by strong relief performances from Abner Uribe and Jared Koenig, who earned his first save.

“We’re here for something big,” Quintana said. “We know it’s not going to be easy… So now is the perfect time to be together and keep fighting.”

The Brewers’ victory was made even sweeter as every other NL team currently in a playoff position lost, extending their lead over the Cubs in the NL Central to six games with 22 games remaining. Importantly, the Brewers now hold the tiebreaker over every current division leader, potentially significant for postseason seeding.

Despite the challenges, Manager Murphy praised the team’s fighting spirit. “The Major League season will give you the full catastrophe, and we’ve had about everything you can. But that’s what’s beautiful about the people in the room. Those guys play hard.”

Chourio tested his hamstring. Collins’ continues his NL Rookie of the Year-caliber season, highlighting the contributions from unexpected players.
