Thu Sep 04 11:00:00 UTC 2025: **NFL Fans Face Hefty Bill to Catch Every Game in 2025 Season**
PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — As the NFL season kicks off, football fans are grappling with a fragmented broadcast landscape that could cost them hundreds of dollars. Games are now spread across ten different broadcast channels and streaming services, including NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, ESPN, Peacock, Netflix, ESPN+, and NFL+.
The price tag to access every game is proving prohibitive for many. YouTube’s Sunday Ticket starts at $288, with the cost increasing to $330 with the addition of RedZone and further still with a YouTube TV bundle. Factoring in the monthly costs of all the necessary streaming services over the five-month season, the total expense skyrockets to an estimated $765.
Many fans are opting for the social atmosphere of sports bars to watch streaming exclusive games. However, even these establishments are feeling the financial strain. Salvo Vitale, General Manager of Vitale’s Comstock Park, explained that commercial DirecTV subscriptions can cost thousands of dollars per month, with prices scaled to seating capacity. The logistics of streaming exclusive games are also complex, requiring multiple subscriptions and streaming devices for each TV.
“Getting the full crowd in here, the atmosphere of everybody cheering on their team, it makes our restaurant and everyone here happy,” Vitale said. “We like that atmosphere and will do anything to make sure we have the sports on that our fans want to watch.”
For fans looking to save money at home, one solution is to focus on local broadcasts. Detroit Lions fans in West Michigan can watch 14 of the 16 currently scheduled games on traditional network TV, which can be accessed with a basic cable subscription or a relatively inexpensive over-the-air antenna. Fans can also strategically subscribe to streaming services only for the months when desired games are aired, like Netflix in December for the Lions’ Christmas Day game against the Vikings.
While NFL+ offers access to every out-of-market game for around $8 per month, it is limited to mobile devices and cannot be streamed to larger screens.
Week 1 will be highlighted by a special Thursday edition of Sunday Night Football, featuring a matchup between Dallas and Philadelphia on WOOD TV8.
