**Patna, September 2, 2025** – The Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved a wide range of initiatives today aimed at improving healthcare, empowering women, and strengthening state services. A total of 48 decisions were made during the meeting.
A key decision was the approval to establish government medical colleges and hospitals in seven districts: Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Arwal, and Sheikhpura. This will add to the existing 12 state-run medical colleges and the 20 currently under construction, significantly boosting medical infrastructure across the state.
In a major move to promote women’s entrepreneurship, the Cabinet sanctioned ₹20,000 crore for the “Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana.” This program will provide ₹10,000 to one woman in every family to start their own business. After six months, successful ventures will receive an additional ₹2 lakh grant.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of 3,233 new posts across various government departments. This includes positions in newly approved residential schools for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the prosecution cadre (following the implementation of Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita), and a newly established “Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau.”
Further decisions included a 30% “risk allowance” increase for police personnel in the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), an increase in duty and training allowances for Bihar Home Guards, and a hike in the monthly honorarium for Gram Kutchery Secretaries. Interns in medical and related fields will also see a significant increase in their stipends.
Finally, the Cabinet approved handing over the under-construction International Cricket Stadium at Rajgir to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) to prepare for hosting international cricket matches, and temporarily increased the Bihar Contingency Fund (BCF) corpus to facilitate the timely implementation of government schemes.
