Thu Jul 03 04:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Georgia Toddler Fighting for Life After Swarm of Yellowjacket Stings

**Savannah, GA** – A two-year-old boy in Georgia is battling multiple organ failure after being stung over 150 times by yellowjackets in a horrific backyard accident. Beckham Reed was playing in an electric toy car when he unknowingly ran over a yellowjacket nest, triggering a swarm.

His father, Peyton Reed, bravely rescued Beckham, sustaining stings himself, and rushed him to a local emergency room. Initially treated with morphine and Benadryl, Beckham was sent home as he appeared to breathe normally. However, his condition quickly deteriorated, and less than 24 hours later, his skin began to turn yellow.

Doctors at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick discovered the toddler, who was born with only one kidney, was experiencing heart, liver, and kidney failure due to the massive amount of toxins in his system. Beckham was immediately transferred to Memorial Savannah, where he was intubated, put on dialysis, and given life-saving IV medications.

“Due to his age and size and the amount of stings he had, his little body was unable to handle the amount of toxins,” his family shared on a GoFundMe page created to help with medical expenses. “There is no antivenom for yellow jackets, so all they can do is support his body while the toxins work their way out.”

As of Friday, June 27th, doctors had planned to remove Beckham from the ventilator, but the procedure was postponed due to concerns about his kidney function and the risk of him pulling out his dialysis line.

“The kidney doctor wants them to wait because she is afraid when he comes off the sedation he may pull the dialysis line,” the GoFundMe update stated. “We are aiming for tomorrow. It is Gods timing and we are learning to be patient. They are also going to go ahead and transfuse him with platelets since his count was low.”

The family has been warned that recovery will be a slow process. Peyton Reed has been unable to work while staying with his son in the hospital, and Beckham’s mother, Mariah, is pregnant with their second child, due in August.

The GoFundMe page has already raised over $31,000 towards a goal of $40,000 to support the family during this challenging time. Donations can be made [link to GoFundMe if available]. The community is rallying around the Reed family, offering prayers and support for Beckham’s recovery.
