**Salem, July 3, 2025** – The Salem GST office celebrated GST Day at Manalmedu on Tuesday evening, marking significant growth in the region’s taxpayer base and revenue collection. The event highlighted the positive impact of GST reforms and digital initiatives on tax compliance and efficiency.
Commissioner of Central GST and Central Excise, Salem, Sidlingappa Teli, announced a remarkable 108% increase in the number of taxpayers within the Salem Commissionerate, rising from approximately 36,000 in July 2017 to 75,000 in June 2025.
