**Visually-Impaired Government Employee Dies by Suicide After Husband’s Embezzlement**

Madurai, India – June 30, 2025 – M. Eswari, a 32-year-old visually-challenged woman, was found dead in her home in Valandur on Sunday, following immense pressure related to her husband’s financial misconduct. Eswari, an employee of the Agricultural Cooperative Department, took her own life after her husband, Muthukumar, allegedly embezzled ₹12 lakh (approximately $15,000 USD) from her workplace.

According to police reports, Eswari faced losing her job if the missing funds were not repaid. Her mother, P. Dhanalakshmi, 55, managed to secure the large sum and paid it to the office. Despite the repayment, Eswari was reportedly deeply depressed by the situation. Her mother brought her and Muthukumar home to console her. Tragically, Eswari took her own life while there.

Eswari, who had cleared the Group IV examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, had been working at the Vikkramangalam Agricultural Cooperative office since 2019. Her husband, Muthukumar, had reportedly been assisting her with her office work.

The Valandur police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding Eswari’s death.
