**Cuddalore Residents Warned as Mettur Dam Releases Surplus Water into Cauvery**

**Cuddalore, India – June 29, 2025, 2:20 PM IST** – The Cuddalore district administration has issued a warning to residents living in low-lying areas along the Cauvery River, urging them to evacuate to safer locations. The Mettur Dam, having reached its full capacity of 120 feet, is releasing surplus water into the river, with discharge expected to increase from 50,000 to 75,000 cusecs imminently.

Cuddalore Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar has specifically cautioned residents in the tail-end Delta region to move to higher ground. He also warned against bathing in the river or allowing livestock near the water’s edge due to the increased flow and potential danger.

A 24-hour control room has been established at the Cuddalore Collectorate to address rain-related complaints and provide assistance. Residents can contact the control room at 1077 or 04142-220700 to report any damages or seek information.

The administration is closely monitoring the situation and urges the public to remain vigilant and heed the warnings to ensure their safety.
