**MYSURU, June 27, 2025** – The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in Mysuru today inaugurated a new hostel block dedicated to accommodating its growing number of female students. The facility was inaugurated by Noorin Bux, Director, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The new block addresses a pressing need for increased accommodation at the national institute, which boasts a student body comprising approximately 80% female students. With a growing intake of students in various academic programs, the existing hostel facilities, the first of which was built in 1968, had become insufficient.

“This new facility will significantly ease the accommodation constraints faced by our girl students and enhance their overall academic experience on campus,” said AIISH Director M. Pushpavathi during the inauguration.

The project, approved during the institute’s 58th Executive Council meeting in May 2022, was executed by the National Projects Construction Corporation Ltd. at a cost of ₹125 lakh. Construction commenced in April 2024 and was completed recently.
