**Netflix’s “K-Pop Demon Hunters” Blends Girl Power with Supernatural Action**
**LOS ANGELES, CA -** Netflix is set to release “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” a new animated film in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. The film follows Huntrix, a seemingly ordinary K-pop girl group with a secret: they’re also demon hunters protecting the world from evil spirits.
Mira, Zoey, and Rumi, the members of Huntrix, use their music and fanbase to generate a powerful barrier against the demon king Gwi-Ma, played by Byung Hun Lee. However, Gwi-Ma’s acolyte Jinu hatches a plan to create a rival boy band, the Saja Boys, to steal Huntrix’s fans and weaken the barrier.
A unique romance develops between Jinu and Rumi complicating matters further. The film combines action, comedy, and a touch of romance, all set against the vibrant backdrop of the K-pop world.
Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” utilizes a distinct animation style inspired by webtoons and manhwa, emphasizing dynamic poses and silhouettes. The film features original K-pop tracks performed by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, and catchy choreography to distinguish it from vintage shows like “Josie and the Pussy Cats” and “Jem and the Holograms.”
“K-Pop Demon Hunters” promises a fast-paced, visually appealing adventure that blends genres and offers a fresh take on the supernatural action comedy. The film will be available on Netflix, the same day as Pixar’s “Elio”.
