**Suspected Vengeance Attack Follows Broad Daylight Murder in Karnataka**

**HUBBALLI, June 25, 2025 (The Hindu) –** In a suspected act of vengeance, the house of Nagaraj Savadatti, the prime accused in the brutal murder of contractor Shivanand Kunnur, caught fire late Tuesday night. The incident occurred in Shiggaon, Haveri district, just hours after Kunnur was hacked to death in broad daylight.

Police are investigating the fire.

Shivanand Channabasappa Kunnur, 42, a contractor and local Congress leader, was killed on Tuesday. Following a complaint by his wife, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) naming Savadatti as the prime suspect, along with Hanumanth, Ashraf, Sudeep, Suresh, and others as accomplices. All accused are currently on the run, believed to have fled to a neighboring state.

Superintendent of Police of Haveri, Anshukumar, has formed four special teams to track down the suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a long-standing property dispute between Kunnur and Savadatti was the likely motive behind the killing. According to the victim’s wife, the two men had repeatedly clashed over a property within the Shiggaon municipal limits.

The police are utilizing video footage of the murder, captured by local residents on their mobile phones, to aid in their efforts to locate and apprehend the accused.

The Hindu continues to follow this developing story.
