**MULUGU, June 25, 2025** – The Mulugu district police have launched a major initiative to enforce helmet use among two-wheeler riders in an effort to curb road accidents and save lives. In the past four days alone, from June 21st to 24th, police have fined 1,949 individuals a total of ₹3,12,855 for failing to wear helmets.
Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Shabarish announced that the special drives, which began on June 19th, are being conducted across all police station jurisdictions within the district. He emphasized that the goal extends beyond simply issuing fines, focusing instead on raising awareness and fostering a change in driver behavior.
“Our aim is to prevent accidents, and wearing a helmet is a simple yet crucial step in ensuring rider safety,” said SP Shabarish. “We are determined to address the high incidence of accidents caused by riders not wearing helmets.”
Alongside the enforcement drives, the Mulugu police are also conducting awareness seminars and programs to educate the public on traffic rules and the importance of helmet use. The SP reiterated that the special drives will continue indefinitely.
Police are urging all two-wheeler riders to prioritize safety by wearing helmets and adhering to all traffic regulations to avoid accidents and penalties.
