Tue Jun 24 06:50:00 UTC 2025: **Mumbai Cricket Prodigy Prithvi Shaw Seeks New Start, Granted NOC After Stint with Mumbai**
**Mumbai, India** – Former India opener Prithvi Shaw, once heralded as a future star of Indian cricket, is seeking a fresh start after requesting and receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The 25-year-old has informed the MCA that he has received offers from three to four other state associations and is evaluating his options for the upcoming domestic season.
“Prithvi Shaw has been an exceptional talent and has contributed significantly to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” stated MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap, after issuing the NOC on Monday.
Shaw, who last played for Mumbai on December 24th, expressed his desire for new opportunities in a letter to the MCA. “At this juncture of my career, I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association, which I believe, will further contribute to the growth and development as a cricketer,” he wrote. He thanked the MCA for the platform they provided him over the years.
Shaw burst onto the international scene with a century on his Test debut in 2018, but has struggled to maintain consistency. He has played just five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20 International for India, and last year was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji team due to fitness concerns. Shaw also went unsold in the recent IPL auction.
Despite his recent setbacks, Shaw’s record for Mumbai speaks for itself. In 32 first-class matches, he has scored 2,648 runs at an average of 49.03, including seven centuries and ten half-centuries. He has also represented the state in 29 List A games. The MCA acknowledged Shaw’s contributions and expressed their appreciation for his time with the association. Shaw is now free to join another state association for the upcoming domestic season, as he looks to resurrect his career.
