**KRS Reservoir Nearing Full Capacity, Downstream Communities Warned of Increased Outflow**

**MYSURU, June 23, 2025** – The Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. (CNNL) has issued a warning to residents living downstream of the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir, urging them to avoid the riverbanks as outflow from the dam is expected to increase.

The KRS reservoir is rapidly approaching its full capacity of 124.80 ft. As of 8:00 a.m. today, the water level stood at 120.20 ft., with an inflow rate of 13,856 cusecs. With only 4.60 ft remaining to reach full capacity and forecasts predicting heavy rainfall in the Cauvery River’s catchment area, the CNNL anticipates a further increase in inflow.

“Given the likelihood of increased inflow, we will need to augment the outflow from the reservoir,” stated the CNNL in a released statement. “Therefore, we strongly advise all individuals residing along the riverbanks to relocate to safer areas as a precautionary measure.”

CNNL officials have been instructed to keep the public informed of any impending increases in discharge. They are also responsible for facilitating the relocation of residents to ensure their safety. The already significant outflow from the Harangi reservoir, currently at 3000 cusecs, is expected to contribute to the increasing inflow into the KRS dam.
