**US Launches Major Strike on Iranian Nuclear Facilities**
**Washington, D.C. – June 23, 2024** – In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the United States launched a direct military strike against Iran’s nuclear program early Sunday morning. US B-2 Spirit stealth bombers flew a non-stop, 37-hour mission from Missouri to conduct the operation, targeting key Iranian nuclear sites, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
President Donald Trump has declared the attack a resounding success, stating that the heavily fortified Fordow facility, long considered Iran’s most secure site, has been destroyed. He lauded the mission as an “amazing success” and issued a stark warning to Iran to “make peace immediately or they’ll get hit again.”
The strikes involved a combination of bunker-buster bombs and Tomahawk missiles. President Trump confirmed that six bunker-buster bombs were deployed against Fordow, while approximately 30 Tomahawk missiles targeted other nuclear installations. The Pentagon has confirmed the use of B-2 bombers in the attack.
An Iranian official, as reported by Tasnim news agency, has acknowledged damage to a portion of the Fordow site resulting from the airstrikes.
The US intervention followed a series of recent Israeli operations targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. While Israel has previously conducted covert operations, experts believed it lacked the necessary firepower to penetrate Fordow’s defenses.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with Israel launching preemptive strikes claiming that Tehran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon. Reports indicate significant casualties on both sides, with over 400 reported deaths and 3,500 injuries in Iran, and at least 14 deaths and 1,200 injuries in Israel from retaliatory missile strikes.
President Trump is expected to address the nation in a televised Oval Office speech later today.
