Sun Jun 22 15:41:36 UTC 2025: **US Strikes Iranian Nuclear Sites, Escalating Regional Tensions**

**WASHINGTON, D.C.** – In a dramatic escalation of tensions, the United States, under the direction of President Donald Trump, launched a large-scale military operation targeting key Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. President Trump announced the strikes, dubbed “spectacularly successful,” claiming the US had “totally obliterated” the sites. The attacks involved B-2 stealth bombers dropping GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, commonly known as “bunker busters,” on the heavily fortified Fordow facility, as well as Tomahawk missiles launched from a US submarine targeting surface infrastructure in Isfahan.

According to US General Dan Caine, the operation, codenamed “Midnight Hammer,” involved over 125 US aircraft, including stealth bombers, fighter jets, tankers, and surveillance planes.

The strikes come amidst heightened tensions in the region, following an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear and military sites last week, alleging that Tehran was developing nuclear weapons. Iran and the United Nations nuclear watchdog have both rejected these claims.

Mehdi Mohammadi, an advisor to the chairman of the Iranian parliament, stated that the attacks were not surprising and claimed that no irreversible damage was sustained, stating that authorities had evacuated all three sites in advance.

Despite the attacks, Iran’s nuclear agency asserts that there are no signs of radiation contamination near the targeted sites and has vowed to continue its nuclear activities. The IAEA has also reported no increase in radiation levels.

The attacks follow weeks of escalating aerial combat between Israel and Iran, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. The situation raises serious concerns about a wider regional conflict.
