**Chicago, IL** – As Independence Day approaches, communities across the Chicago area are gearing up for spectacular fireworks displays. This year, the celebrations are spread out over the July 4th holiday weekend, with many towns hosting parades, festivals, and concerts in addition to the main event: the fireworks.
Downtown Chicago residents and visitors can enjoy fireworks at Navy Pier every Wednesday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 p.m. through Aug. 30. On July 5, there is an additonal show at 10 p.m.
Beyond the city, nearly a hundred Chicago-area communities are listed below, many with celebrations spread out over the Independence Day weekend (July 4 falls on a Friday this year). If no time is mentioned, most displays begin at dusk (about 9:15 p.m.) and last about half an hour. Some communities, like Aurora and Glendale Heights, are hosting multi-day festivals culminating in firework shows.
However, some communities will not be hosting any fireworks shows this year. Arlington Heights (no community fireworks display for 2025), Itasca (canceled for 2025 due to construction around Hamilton Lakes), Highland Park (no city fireworks or drone show for 2025) and Oak Park (but no fireworks this year) are some of the communities on the list not hosting fireworks.
Here’s a sample of some local displays:
* **Antioch:** Parade at 10:30 a.m. July 4, followed by festivities at 4 p.m. and fireworks at Sequoit Creek Park.
* **Aurora:** Fireworks display on July 3, best viewed from Aurora Transportation Center and McCullough Park. Parade in downtown Aurora at 10 a.m. July 4.
* **Barrington:** Main Street parade at 10 a.m. July 4, then fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Barrington High School.
* **Bartlett:** Skydivers at 7:35 p.m. July 4, then fireworks at 9:15 p.m. at Community Park.
* **Buffalo Grove:** Annual celebration at Willow Stream Park begins with a concert at 7 p.m. July 4 with fireworks at 9 p.m.
