**Delhi to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of the Emergency with Exhibition**
**New Delhi, June 21, 2025:** The Delhi government announced plans to hold a public exhibition in Connaught Place’s Central Park on June 25th to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency declared in 1975. Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra stated that the exhibition aims to educate the public, particularly the younger generation, about the background and consequences of the 21-month period when civil liberties were suspended and the Constitution was reportedly undermined. The exhibition will feature documents and photographs related to the Emergency and will highlight the suppression of press freedom and the violation of citizens’ rights. Minister Mishra described the Emergency as the “darkest chapter” in India’s history. The Delhi government also announced its support for a series of other cultural and intellectual programs, including seminars and art exhibitions, to further commemorate the event.
