**Modi to Meet International Students at Yoga Day Event in Visakhapatnam**

**Visakhapatnam, June 20, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet and interact with approximately 400 international students during International Yoga Day celebrations scheduled for June 21st in Visakhapatnam. The students, primarily from Andhra University (AU) and GITAM Deemed to be University, are among the 2,000 foreign nationals from over 50 countries currently pursuing higher education in the city.

Sources indicate the Prime Minister may also participate in a photoshoot with the international contingent. Universities are making special arrangements for their international students to attend the event. Many of the students, having arrived for their academic year beginning in July, are currently receiving yoga training.

“Many of us are new to yoga,” stated Victor from Uganda, a student at GITAM University. “We’re used to the gym and other sports, but the yoga practice has given us a feeling of wellbeing.”

Andhra University is utilizing the expertise of Soko Takeuchi, a Japanese national and Ph.D. candidate in Yoga and Consciousness at AU, as a trainer for the students. “I love yoga and am happy to share it with the international students,” said Takeuchi.

University officials expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity for their students. “Now, they are learning it and are getting a positive feeling,” said Prof. K.P.C. Kishan, Director of International Students Affairs at GITAM University. AU’s International students co-ordinator for the yoga event, Prof. N.M Yugandhar said around 150 students from their university, who have been trained by Japanese yoga expert Soko, will participate in the event.

The event is anticipated to highlight the growing popularity of yoga among international students in India and promote cultural exchange.
