**Delhi Breathes Easier After 100-Day Action Plan, But Thunderstorms Loom**
**New Delhi – June 20, 2025** – For the second consecutive day, Delhi residents are enjoying “satisfactory” air quality, marking the cleanest air the city has seen in over eight months. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached a level of 89 on Thursday.
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa attributes the significant improvement to the government’s dedicated 100-day action plan. He cited extensive road sweeping (over 6,482 km in the past 24 hours and over 11 lakh km since February 20th) and daily road sprinkling (1,353 km with 744 kilolitres of water used in the last 24 hours) as key contributors to the cleaner air. “Delhi has finally proven that with the right will and vision, clean air is possible,” said Minister Sirsa.
However, the reprieve from pollution may be short-lived. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for thunderstorm and moderate to heavy rainfall expected in the capital on Thursday night.
The city experienced a maximum temperature of 34.6° Celsius on Thursday, five degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was a normal 27.2° Celsius, with 82% relative humidity recorded in the morning. The IMD predicts thunderstorms with rain on Friday, with maximum and minimum temperatures settling around 37 and 28° Celsius, respectively.
