Istanbul, Turkey – Mozambican singer and influencer Ana Barbara Buhr Buldrini, 31, has died in Istanbul, Turkey, hours after undergoing cosmetic surgery. Buldrini traveled to Turkey with her husband, artist Elgar Sueia, to undergo a breast augmentation, liposuction, and nose job at Tusa Hospital.
According to reports, the hospital had a commercial agreement with Buldrini, offering the procedures free in exchange for promotional work. However, after the surgery, Buldrini suffered a cardiac arrest and died.
Sueia, who married Buldrini a month ago, stated that his wife was taken into surgery earlier than scheduled, days after initial consultation, and wasn’t properly prepared, alleging she hadn’t fasted beforehand.
Tusa Hospital, which has reportedly faced scrutiny and changed its name following previous surgery-related deaths, stated that Buldrini was treated as a dental surgery patient, given full legal and medical information, and signed consent forms. They claimed the surgery was conducted under standard conditions but resulted in an unexpected complication during recovery. The hospital further stated that Buldrini experienced ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest. Medical staff attempted resuscitation for over 90 minutes without success. The hospital stated they are cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of death.
